Breadbox Secures GEOS Operating System License from Geoworks Hudson, Florida, January 24, 2002.
Breadbox Computer Company, LLC is pleased to announce that they have signed a worldwide non-exclusive licensing agreement with Geoworks, a publically traded company (NASDQ- GWRX) of Alameda, California, to license the GEOS operating system for use on any and all hardware platforms and devices, including desktop computers, PDAs, smart phones, communicators, set-top boxes, and other embedded devices. "Breadbox has been devoted to and particpated in most major GEOS projects for the past 10 years. We have been a major contributor to the GEOS community and we've developed dozens of software applications, internet clients, filters, utilities, etc., many of which have been utilized in all of the GEOS-based devices and software brought to market. We are extremely pleased that we are now primary licensees of the GEOS OS (operating system) and we can finally pursue our own projects. With our talented and experienced team of engineers, we plan on moving GEOS from a nearly dead OS and, coupled with our GEOS software products, taking it to a more modern and competitive engine that could be utilized effectively and efficiently on many different platforms. In addition to seeking hardware manufacturing sub-licensees, we will also pursue various other markets in the desktop and embedded arena worldwide." stated Frank S. Fischer, President and CEO of Breadbox
