As a user of the PC/Geos I am becoming very concerned over the newer programs that are becoming available for PC/Geos. Programs such as crazy project, clipper and others are in the German language which I cannot read. I would love to be able to use these programs and to be able to use all parts of PC/Geos. Please provide me clarity as to if the newer programs are going to be provided in English.
Future of English language PC/Geos applications

A possible way is to use the translation tools that are available for SDK programs as well as for R-BASIC Programs like Clipper. They can be used by anyone, not only the programmer itself. Both tools are available in English. If you find anyone to do the job I can assist him how to start.

Sorry for the late response. I will go through the website you sent me. To see if I can learn how to translate German Geos programs to the English language

I can only agree with you, Brett. However, I am not as concerned as you as I am a Swede, and I understand German to some extent. I have actually translated a few apps that Rainer Bettsteller wrote for Geos. German have sometimes a different way to build sentences, than English langugae, and it also differs from Swedish. The hardest part to translate is help files, especially when there are small jokes with a little twist in the help files, then you will have a headache. One hint I can give you is to make a matrix with the menu words. Use for example GeoCalc/Spreadsheet, put the German words in one column, and the english translations in the other column to the right or vice versa, depending in what suits you. Then you have a small start to better knowing German apps. Then you have the messages,
I wish I would have time to do some translations, but I am very busy at the time, but hopefully in the near future this will change. The ideal would be to have the Ensemble package and the Geos programs in English, German, Spanish, French and Portugusese langugage, but maybe this is just a dream.Hans

Does anybody know in which countries are still Geos users?
I guess in Germany lives a quite big part of them.
And then we have
- USA (bretttiktin)
- Sweden (hansle)

Spontan fallen mir Frankreich, die Philippinen und Brasilien ein. Die dazu gehörenden Sprachen hat Hans berücksichtigt.

There are still users of the French and US-American Yahoo-geos-groups...
As one of these users is Philippe D., I guess that there are even three Swiss users left.
