This document contains notes about using Brother
printers with NewDeal software
Note: You must have NewDeal software to use NewDeal print drivers.
NewDeal print drivers will not work with other Windows, OS/2, or DOS programs.
Brother HL-1040
NewDeal has not tested the Brother HL-1040.
According to Brother, the HL-1040 uses all these printer languages:
PCL4
Epson FX-850
IBM Proprinter XL
Soft PCL5e
Since PCL4 is the language used by the Hewlett Packard LaserJets,
any of the drivers for HP LaserJets in NewDeal should work with the
Brother HL-1040 printer. These are the emulations recommended by Brother:
HP LaserJet 5L or 5P
HP LaserJet 4 or 4L or 4P
HP LaserJet III or IIIP
Brother HL-8V or 10V
Brother HL-8e
Epson FX-850
Epson FX-80
IBM Proprinter XL
IBM Proprinter
Brother HL-641
The Brother HL-641 is reported to work with the HP LaserJet
II Compatible driver or the HP LaserJet IIP driver in NewDeal.
Brother HL - 820
NewDeal has not tested the Brother HL-820 printer.
The HL - 820 is a Windows-only printer. Brother says,
"A soft copy of PCL5e is also provided, for non-Windows
applications." We have not seen this utility, so we
do not know how it works, or if it works with NewDeal software.
Brother 1100 laser printer
NewDeal has not tested the Brother 1100 printer.
However, according to Brother, the 1100 is a standard PCL4
printer that should work with any of the LaserJet drivers
in NewDeal.
Brother Multifunction (MFC, MFC 7000)
According to Brother's technical support, the Multifunction
machine will print from DOS applications like NewDeal by
using an ESC/P2 printer driver. Try any of these choices
in NewDeal Preferences, Printer.
