1. INTRODUCTION AND QUICK START
Please note: This document will refer to the
directory C:\N9000 as the root directory of the
installed emulator. If you chose to change the
installation directory, please substitute the name
you chose in place of C:\N9000.

This emulator is meant for use by those already
familiar with the general operation of a Nokia
9000 Communicator. It is provided expressly for
use in testing Web pages developed for the
   Communicator.

The emulator is ready to run when it is installed.
If you are running Windows, exit to DOS or start
a DOS window and make it full screen. Then type
   the following commands:
        C:
        CD \N9000
        GEOS.BAT

The emulator will come up with the Phone application
running. To launch the Web browser, hit the F8 key
   on your keyboard.

The emulator has its menus on the right side of the
screen. There are four menu options, corresponding
to the F1, F2, F3, and F4 keys from top to bottom.
(Most often, "Open" or "Select" corresponds to F1
and "Cancel" or "Close" corresponds to F4.)

To connect to the Web, you will need an Internet
dialup account. The emulator can not connect to
the Web directly through TCP/IP because the Nokia
9000 can not do so, and the emulator is essentially
the same software as found in the flash ROM of the
   communicator.

If you do not have a dialup ISP account, you will
have to get one in order to effectively use the
emulator to view your Web pages.

Once you have an ISP account, you will need to set
up the emulator for connection via the virtual
modem. To do this, hit the F8 key in the emulator,
bringing up the Internet Applications listing.
Hit the F4 key to open up the Settings menu.

Enter the appropriate information into the settings
for your ISP internet connection. If you do not have
the information, you will have to get it from your
ISP. Once the internet connection is properly set
up, you can run the Web browser and either type in
a URL or select a built-in bookmark; the emulator
will automatically dial the ISP, log in, and begin
   the Web session.

2. Troubleshooting
This emulator should run on any properly-configured
DOS PC. If you have trouble running the emulator,
try booting in strict DOS mode and unloading any
TSRs, network drivers, and special devices you may
   have.

This emulator is provided "as is." No technical
or product support is provided. If you detect
problems, please notify the Mobile Publisher Program
at publishers@geoworks.com. We do not promise any
response for technical questions regarding the
   emulator or the browser.
